Bisley Store: What drew you to your particular medium, and how has your style evolved over time?
Brianna: I’ve always known how to sew, being the daughter of a seamstress, and I’ve always considered myself a creative person. I leaned towards painting and hand-lettering through college, but later when I decided to stay home after my second baby, I needed something that I could do that didn’t involve paint everywhere. I ordered a starter embroidery kit (which contained some of the worst cheap supplies), watched a couple YouTube tutorials and I immediately fell in love after stitching my first hoop. Four years later, my style has changed as I learned different techniques and settled into my “brand”. Once I started focusing on pattern writing, it became more of a teaching role for myself (which is fitting since I worked in education before staying home). 

What role does organization play in your creative process? What does it mean to feel "organized" in your world? How do you get there?

Being an embroidery artist means I have a TON of small supplies that need a place: hoops, floss, needles, scissors, etc. Doing this as a small business means I need even more organization. I currently have a small house and a lot of kids, so I have to be creative with all of my little boxes, tubs, and shelves that I use to organize my supplies. I can’t afford to be unorganized doing what I do!
