Eric Castanos on Video, Vision, and Staying Organized

Step into the studio of Eric Castanos, a Yuma-based videographer with an eye for bold color and cinematic detail. In a recent visual short, Eric gives us a cinematic look at how he uses his 5-Drawer MultiDrawer in Golden Sunflower Yellow — not just as storage, but as a key part of his creative process. With every drawer dialed to purpose, his workspace is a reflection of both his artistic style and his need for seamless efficiency.

We caught up with Eric to talk shop, creative process, and workspace setup. As a visual storyteller, he relies on smart systems to keep the chaos in check. His Bisley MultiDrawer in Golden Sunflower Yellow brings order — and a pop of color — to his studio.

What role does organization play in your creative process?
Organization is huge for my creative process. When I start a new project, cleaning my space is step one. That means storing what I am not using and placing what I need within an arms reach. Feeling organized means that I can freely start to create - without worry about where any of my tools are.

What drew you to your particular medium, and how has your style evolved over time?
What drew me to my particular medium is creative flexibility. Through my years of being an artist and then stacking media on top of that, it has been a blessing to be able to use all those together to produce whatever ideas I have been given into reality.

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing now, what other career or passion would you pursue?
I am honestly not sure. This is all I've ever wanted to do and I'm grateful to be able to do it for a career. At times I feel being more involved with big movie productions would be awesome but truthfully I love my job.

What inspires you? How do you find inspiration?
So much of what inspires me is how life itself is unfolding right in front of me. Although social media can be a never-ending scroll of inspiration, I often find my best ideas or sparks of inspiration arise when I go about interacting in my everyday life. Away from technology and being in tune to what God is giving me. I find inspiration by exploring with a camera or a sketchbook, talking with friends and family, watching movies from my childhood, and looking at portfolio books from my idols. Mainly by just observing and letting my curiosity lead. It is difficult for me to create or be inspired if my mind is distracted or when I am exhausted.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone looking to refine their workspace, what would it be?
One piece of advice I would give anyone trying to refine their workspace is to make it personal. Make it truly you, and fill it with all your favorite things. Have pieces around that will spark a memory in you. That, and good storage and organization - with all the knick-knacks laying around you also need to have them laid out nicely. That's why proper storage and shelving is important to nicely organize and lay out your belongings.
